OHS Prevention Services Clarification on Alberta’s Certificate of Recognition (COR) program November 2023


An article entitled “Changes coming to
Alberta’s Certificate of Recognition (COR) program” was published earlier this month in the November edition of OHS eNews. We’ve learned that the article was misleading to some who read it, and I would like to formally apologize for that. I would like to offer the following information to help clarify the matter for COR stakeholders.

Alberta OHS Prevention Services is currently exploring modernization of the COR program. At this stage, a sub-committee comprised of OHS Prevention Services staff and Certifying Partner representatives is researching and gathering information to support this exploration. The intent is to make the program more accessible to employers of all sizes, help COR holders improve performance, and make the certification process more streamlined and easier for employers to navigate.
