Social Science & Humanities Research Council Partnership Development Grants
These grants provide support over one to three years to teams/partnerships, led by a project director, to: develop research and/or related activities in the social sciences and humanities—these can include knowledge mobilization and the meaningful involvement of students and emerging scholars—by fostering new partnerships with existing and/or potential partners; ordesign and test new partnership approaches for research and/or related activities that can result in best practices or models—these can either be adapted by others or have the potential to be scaled up to a regional, national or international level. SSHRC welcomes applications involving Indigenous research, as well as those involving research-creation.

CRRF’s National Anti-Racism Project Fund:
The Canadian Race Relations Foundation (CRRF) seeks to support organizations to combat racism, promote events and education, and build a more anti-racist society. NARF provides two types of grant funding: 1) Projects and 2) Events and Youth Initiatives Available funding for any proposed project can range from a minimum of $25,000 to a maximum of $125,000. Applicants will only be eligible for funding to a maximum of one application.
Applicants will have 5 weeks to submit their full application between early December 2024 and early January 2025.

Red Deer & District Community Microgrant Program 2024
Through grants of up to $5,000, the Community Grants Microgrant program caters to the diverse and evolving needs of community organizations. These microgrants aid organizations in navigating a swiftly changing landscape, whether it involves developing responsive programming, maintaining vital programming, investing in technology, or addressing unforeseen expenses to meet the demands of the community.

InMotion Network: Go Girl Event Grants
Go Girl events provide a unique opportunity for communities to reach out to their teen girls. Communities are encouraged to apply for a grant to host such an event. InMotion Network provides Go Girl grants up to a maximum of $2500.

City of Calgary Awards
The Calgary Awards celebrate and recognize outstanding achievements and contributions made by Calgarians. Each year, individuals, corporations, community groups, and organizations are nominated in five major award categories including the Award for Accessibility and the Community Achievement Awards

Successful applicants may receive up to $750 per calendar year (January-December), which may be used for such expenses as:

• Courses and classes (not core education; not conferences)

• Respite care (eg. summer camps, etc.)

ECALA 2022 – 2025 Funding Adult Learning & Indigenous Stream Funding
The Government of Alberta, through Advanced Education, provides funding to granting councils and agencies across Alberta to support the delivery of part-time, non-formal adult learning opportunities. The Edmonton Community Adult Learning Association (ECALA) is the granting council for Edmonton’s urban centre.  ECALA distributes over $2.4 million dollars annually to non-profit organizations to provide Community Adult Learning Program (CALP) opportunities for adult Edmontonians who face social and financial barriers to learning.

Alberta.ca Enhanced Capacity Advancement Program (ECAP)helps to advance and strengthen the non-profit and voluntary sector, by providing multi-year operational funding for up to 3 years to Alberta-based non-profit organizations that have a primary mandate and proven ability to:

• build the capacity of other non-profit organizations in Alberta, and
• strengthen and advance the capacity of Alberta’s non-profit and voluntary sector as a whole*
  The next multi-year funding cycle intake is anticipated for the fall of 2025.

The Canada-Alberta Job Grant is a training program where an employer applies on behalf of their present or future employees for eligible training costs. Employers decide who gets training and what type of training may be needed for their employees.

Canada Retraining and Opportunities Initiative.
This $30 million fund will be provided to projects that bring together community-based organizations, that provide new skills training opportunities for workers. The Canada Retraining and Opportunities Initiative is part of the Government’s response to significant job losses impacting a community and provides funding to address exceptional situations. This initiative will help bolster community resilience by complementing existing programs and services to help displaced workers transition into new jobs.

Canadian Women’s Foundation Investment Readiness Program (IRP) Grants
These grants assist organizations to support and encourage their growth and participation in the social innovation and social finance ecosystem. The grant program will focus on preparing the ground for new projects to address women’s needs in Canada in various sectors, working with diverse and underserved communities.

Canadian Women’s Foundation Economic Development Grants
These 5-year grants support programs for women, Two Spirit, trans, and non-binary people who are living on low incomes to learn a skilled trade, start a business, or gain work experience, with the goal of achieving a sustainable livelihood.

City of Red Deer FCSS Red Deer & District Agency Capacity Building Grant
Red Deer & District FCSS agency capacity building funds are intended to help make our community organizations stronger and more effective. With increasing pressures on our non-profit sector to deal with more and more complex issues and perform at elevated levels of sophistication and accountability, there has been an increasing need to support agencies in these area.
There is no application deadline. However, applicants need to apply at least four  weeks in advance of requiring funds.

City of Grande Prairie Emergency Community Group Funding
This funding will be given to community groups or agencies based upon urgent need. Community groups or agencies must provide a business case for the funding, including indication of financial need (including financial statements).

City of Grande Prairie Training Grant
The Training Grant is designed to support local organizations’ participation in education and training initiatives that enhance knowledge and/or skills applicable to their operations or trainees’ role within the organization.  A grant equal to 25% of Registration Costs for owner and/or employee Training and Education Initiatives over $300 per person to a maximum grant amount of $2,500 per business; OR a grant equal to 50% of Registration Costs for owner and/or employee Training and Education Initiatives $300 or less per person to a maximum grant amount of $1,250 per business.

CMHC Shelter Enhancement Program (SEP) On-Reserve
People who are fleeing domestic violence, including those living on-reserve, need ready access to safe emergency shelter. Many also need second-stage or transitional housing as they prepare for independent living after leaving an abusive situation.CMHC works closely with First Nations across Canada to ensure these essential services are available in their communities. Through our Shelter Enhancement Program (SEP) On-Reserve, we help pay for much-needed repairs to existing shelters and also provide financial support to those looking to build new shelters or second-stage housing projects

What they Fund: Youth: Initiatives that have a primary focus on adolescent emotional health and wellness or on career transitions for youth and young adults. Crowdfunding Alberta
Non-profit organizations create their campaigns and invite supporters to share on social media and donate. F.L.R.P. Community Fund
Created to support front-line members and their families in the community. Members who have experienced a traumatic event and are struggling with their emotional or mental health can apply for funding to access services that may not be covered through traditional benefits (ex: Equine Therapy, Reiki, Cellular Transformational Healing, Reflexology etc.). This fund will also be used to support members and their families in times of crisis. This can include but is not limited to financial struggles, divorce, medical crisis, food/supplies during a crisis, care packages etc.

PrairiesCan makes targeted investments that aim to generate sustainable, inclusive economic growth and help communities in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba to fully participate in and benefit from economic opportunities.

Examples of eligible activities include:

• Community Development – includes activities to stimulate economic growth or diversification that capitalize on community capacity, strengths and opportunities.

Keg Spirit Foundation Funding
Will consider funding for both new and established projects based on the following criteria:

• The organization must hold, in good standing, a current charity registration number.
• The project must relate to children or youth in some way.
• The program should contain a mentoring component.

When funding allows (the majority of funding goes to our larger partnerships each year), The Keg Spirit Foundation will make grants to successful applicants. Grants are typically in the range of $2,000 to $5,000.

McLean Foundation
The McLean Foundation supports work that is not as likely to be funded by others, but that can make a positive difference. The Foundation funds projects that show promise of improving the wellbeing of people, communities, and our environment which may initially lack broad public appeal. Registered charities and qualified donees can apply for funding for new projects, existing programs, or general operations. The maximum grant amount is generally $15,000.

Max Bell Foundation Project and Development Grants
Project Grants: A project is:

• a clearly defined set of coordinated activities that are necessary to achieve a well defined, measurable purpose. Grants from Max Bell Foundation support projects that take as their purpose informing, in some way, public policy.
• temporary and term-specific (e.g., X months) – not ongoing work of an organization that has no specified end date.
• based on its own unique, clear budget and financial accounting procedures.

Development Grants
These grants support organizations doing early-stage work that is intended to lead to and/or support a larger project that will aim to inform public policy. They often provide excellent learning and mentorship experiences for students or early career individuals. Examples of funded development grants have the following characteristics:

• They undertake short-term (typically four to six months) developmental work on public policy issues in health & wellness, education, or environment.
• They help position applicant organizations to succeed with other larger-scale public policy initiatives.
• They may include data gathering, environmental scanning, literature reviews, preliminary analyses, detailed project planning, etc.

There are no deadlines for Letters of Intent

Muttart Bursary Program and the Leadership Bursary Program.
There are two streams of funding available under the Foundation’s bursary funding program – the Muttart Bursary Program and the Leadership Bursary Program. Both bursary programs are open to registered charities working in the field of social services or early childhood education and care in Alberta or Saskatchewan. The aim of the bursary programs is to build a charity’s organizational capacity through staff and key volunteer professional development.

• Muttart Bursary Program
  Grants are usually awarded in amounts of less than $1,500 to cover the tuition or registration costs of courses, programs, conferences or other training opportunities. Courses or programs must be offered by a non-profit entity or a publicly funded post-secondary institution. 
• Muttart Leadership Program
  The aim of the Leadership Bursary program is to increase the capacity of senior staff, management staff, or persons serving in a senior staff capacity within these charities to contribute now, or in the near future, to leadership within or across organizations, or enhance leadership competence in key policy areas related to the charity or sub-sector’s work.

Please submit applications to the Foundation at least three weeks in advance of the course start date to provide sufficient time for a review of your request.

Microsoft Grant
Provides grants and discounted solutions to eligible nonprofits. Nonprofit discounts and grants are permitted for specific employees and volunteers.

• Grants – Granted licenses are only permitted for paid employees and unpaid executive staff if all organization eligibility is met. User amount limits do apply and vary by availability of country of usage. Additionally, organizations are expected to regularly remove unused granted licenses from their subscription. Adherence to policy guidance is encouraged and tenant may be subject to audit by Microsoft.
• Discounts – Discounted licenses are permitted for all staff, including volunteers and temporary staff of the organization. Eligible nonprofits may access discounted pricing on commercial cloud offers, and some on-premise offers. Discounts vary by product, and/or quantity
