Reconciliation Action Planning Consultation Service
Supporting meaningful, practical reconciliation in community services
ALIGN’s Reconciliation Action Planning (RAP) Consultation Service supports community service providers in moving reconciliation from intention to action. This service offers tailored guidance to help organizations reflect, plan, and take responsibility for reconciliation in ways that are respectful, practical, and grounded in relationship.
Reconciliation is not a checklist or a one-time activity. It is an ongoing process that requires listening, learning, and action—within organizations, across systems, and in relationship with Indigenous peoples and communities.
What this service offers
ALIGN works alongside your organization to develop a reconciliation action plan that reflects your context, readiness, and responsibilities. This work is guided by Elders and Knowledge Keepers, and consultation is tailored to your organization’s needs. Support may include:
· Education & Training Strengthening understanding of Indigenous histories, cultures, and rights, informed by Elder and Knowledge Keeper teachings and how these relate to your organization’s work.
· Employment Practices Supporting Indigenous recruitment, retention, advancement, and workplace belonging, grounded in culturally respectful approaches.
· Procurement & Economic Inclusion Identifying opportunities to engage Indigenous businesses and suppliers in meaningful and reciprocal ways.
· Partnerships & Relationships Supporting the development of respectful, relationship-based connections with Indigenous communities and organizations, informed by community protocols.
· Policy Review & Systems Change Identifying and addressing policies or practices that may create systemic barriers, with attention to Indigenous perspectives and lived experience.
· Cultural Integration Thoughtfully embedding Indigenous knowledge, teachings, and perspectives into daily practice and organizational culture, guided by Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
How ALIGN approaches this work
ALIGN’s approach is grounded in ethical space, parallel process, and respect for different ways of knowing. Elders and Knowledge Keepers are engaged to guide cultural knowledge, teachings, and protocols, ensuring this work is carried out with integrity and accountability.
This service is not intended to educate Indigenous peoples or communities, but rather to support service providers in their own learning, reflection, and responsibility within systems that impact Indigenous children, families, and communities.
Consultation recognizes that organizations are at different places in their reconciliation journey and emphasizes progress over perfection, relationship over compliance, and learning over checklists.
This service is designed for:
· Community service providers
· Non-profit and not-for-profit organizations
· Agencies seeking to strengthen reconciliation commitments in a practical and meaningful way
