Statement from Sonja Polz – ALIGN Executive Director

It was an honour to stand together with the Alberta Foster and Kinship Association and Alberta Children and Family Services, at the Queen Elizabeth II Building in Edmonton on October 1, 2025, as we launched Foster and Kinship Caregiver Appreciation Month in Alberta.

This month, we recognize and celebrate the extraordinary foster and kinship caregivers across our province—individuals and families who provide love, stability, and support to children and youth, helping shape brighter futures for our communities.

The flag-raising is more than a symbol—it is our way of saying thank you and recognizing the incredible difference caregivers make for children, families, and communities across Alberta.
