Alberta’s Certificate of Recognition (COR)

A Certificate of Recognition (COR) is awarded to employers who develop health and safety programs that meet established standards

A COR shows that the employer’s health and safety management system has been evaluated by a certified auditor and meets provincial standards. These standards are established by Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).

To get a COR, your business must first have a health and safety management system in place, and then have it successfully audited through a Certifying Partner.

If your business passes the audit, the Certifying Partner will jointly issue a COR with the Government of Alberta

OHS Prevention Services Clarification on Alberta’s Certificate of Recognition (COR) program November 2023 Alberta OHS Prevention Services is currently exploring modernization of the COR program. At this stage, a sub-committee comprised of OHS Prevention Services staff and Certifying Partner representatives is researching and gathering information to support this exploration. The intent is to make the program more accessible to employers of all sizes, help COR holders improve performance, and make the certification process more streamlined and easier for employers to navigate.
