Government of Canada Family Violence Prevention Program
The Family Violence Prevention Program (FVPP) funds the operations of emergency shelters and transitional (second stage) housing to improve the safety and security of Indigenous women, children, families and 2SLGBTQI+ people across Canada, including in the North and in urban centres. FVPP also provides funding for community-driven service delivery projects for family violence prevention activities.

2025 City of Calgary Capacity Building Fund
The City of Calgary’s 2025 Capacity Building Fund is designed to empower Calgary nonprofits for one-time projects that enhance social impact and address emerging issues by strengthening organizational effectiveness. Eligible projects focus on increasing adaptive or technical capacity, going beyond regular operations or program activities to strengthen the organization’s overall sustainability and responsiveness. The maximum grant amount is $100,000 with community-based organizations prioritized for funding. Community-based organizations are nonprofits that serve a vulnerable population, are led by members of a community they serve, and have an annual operating budget of less than $250,000 a year or four or fewer full time staff.

Volunteer Alberta – Alberta Civil Society Emerging Leaders
ACSEL seeks to encourage the civic participation of Alberta youth by providing Canada Service Corps alumni (aged 16 to 30 years old) support and resources to develop new or enhance pre-existing community-based projects from April 2024 – March 2026. Successful applicants will receive up to $5,000 in grant funds to help implement their work .

Alberta.ca Affordable Housing Partnership Program
Public, non-profit, and private-sector housing providers can apply for funding for innovative and sustainable affordable housing projects. The Affordable Housing Partnership Program is a key part of government’s 10-year Stronger Foundations plan to provide safe, stable, affordable housing for an additional 25,000 low-income households by 2031. The program encourages creativity and innovation, and supports a range of housing options, including specialized housing, mixed income housing and mixed-used housing.

This grant program supports Pride organisations to address increased safety-related costs amidst rising anti-2SLGBTQIA+. This funding supports increased security costs faced by festival and event organisers. Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Partnership Grants—Stage 1
These grants provide support for new and existing formal partnerships over four to seven years to advance research, research training and/or knowledge mobilization in the social sciences and humanities. Canada Post Community Foundations Grant  
The Canada Post Community Foundation provides grants to Canadian schools, charities and community organizations that make a difference in the lives of children and youth (up to age 21). Since 2012, the Community Foundation has granted over $12.3 million to 1,100 projects across Canada.

Edmonton Community Foundation Community Grant Program  
The Community Grants program can support a wide range of organizational needs. A non-profit is eligible to apply if it serves the greater Edmonton area, including Leduc County, Parkland County, Strathcona County, and Sturgeon County. If you don’t have a recent relationship with them (successfully received a Community Grant in the last five years), your organization can apply for a grant up to $40,000. If you’ve worked with ECF recently (successful Community Grant approved, completed and reported on), you can apply for a grant up to $80,000.

Co-op Community Spaces Funding 
Established to improve community health and well-being by building places for Western Canadians to come together, build social connections and enable community development. Projects can apply for between $25,000 and $150,000

The Community Leadership Initiative (CLI) program empowers youth to design and lead their own civic engagement projects that promote inclusivity and reconciliation. Home Depot Youth Opportunity Grant
The Youth Opportunity Grants will consider applications from Canadian registered charities dedicated to preventing and ending youth homelessness in Canada through housing, prevention and employment programs. Including housing transformation, healthy pathways (prevention), and youth innovation, which include youth-led initiatives and education programs. Maximum Grant is up to $75,000.00.

SSHRC Partnership Engage Grants
These grants provide short-term and timely support for partnered research activities that will inform decision-making at a single partner organization from the public, private or not-for-profit sector. The small-scale, stakeholder-driven partnerships supported through Partnership Engage Grants are meant to respond to immediate needs and time constraints facing organizations in non-academic sectors. In addressing an organization-specific need, challenge and/or opportunity, these partnerships let non-academic organizations and postsecondary researchers access each other’s unique knowledge, expertise and capabilities on topics of mutual interest.SSHRC welcomes applications involving Indigenous research, as well as those involving research-creation.

Canada Retraining and Opportunities Initiative.
This $30 million fund will be provided to projects that bring together community-based organizations, that provide new skills training opportunities for workers. The Canada Retraining and Opportunities Initiative is part of the Government’s response to significant job losses impacting a community and provides funding to address exceptional situations. This initiative will help bolster community resilience by complementing existing programs and services to help displaced workers transition into new jobs.

Canadian Women’s Foundation Economic Development Grants
These 5-year grants support programs for women, Two Spirit, trans, and non-binary people who are living on low incomes to learn a skilled trade, start a business, or gain work experience, with the goal of achieving a sustainable livelihood.

The Allstate Foundation of Canada was established in 1977 to provide grants to charities and not-for-profit organizations that are involved in a variety of activities or educational initiatives focused around crime prevention, road safety or home safety.

Red Deer & District FCSS agency capacity building funds are intended to help make our community organizations stronger and more effective. With increasing pressures on our non-profit sector to deal with more and more complex issues and perform at elevated levels of sophistication and accountability, there has been an increasing need to support agencies in these area.

CMHC Shelter Enhancement Program (SEP) On-Reserve
People who are fleeing domestic violence, including those living on-reserve, need ready access to safe emergency shelter. Many also need second-stage or transitional housing as they prepare for independent living after leaving an abusive situation.CMHC works closely with First Nations across Canada to ensure these essential services are available in their communities. Created to support front-line members and their families in the community. The First Nations and Inuit Home and Community Care (FNIHCC) program provides funding and advice on developing home and community care services to Indigenous people living in First Nations and Inuit communities. Keg Spirit Foundation Funding
Will consider funding for both new and established projects based on the following criteria:

McLean Foundation
The McLean Foundation supports work that is not as likely to be funded by others, but that can make a positive difference. Max Bell Foundation Project and Development Grants
Project Grants: A project is:

• a clearly defined set of coordinated activities that are necessary to achieve a well defined, measurable purpose. Grants from Max Bell Foundation support projects that take as their purpose informing, in some way, public policy.
• temporary and term-specific (e.g., X months) – not ongoing work of an organization that has no specified end date.
• based on its own unique, clear budget and financial accounting procedures.

Development Grants
These grants support organizations doing early-stage work that is intended to lead to and/or support a larger project that will aim to inform public policy. They often provide excellent learning and mentorship experiences for students or early career individuals. Examples of funded development grants have the following characteristics:

• They undertake short-term (typically four to six months) developmental work on public policy issues in health & wellness, education, or environment.
• They help position applicant organizations to succeed with other larger-scale public policy initiatives.
• They may include data gathering, environmental scanning, literature reviews, preliminary analyses, detailed project planning, etc.

Muttart Bursary Program and the Leadership Bursary Program.
There are two streams of funding available under the Foundation’s bursary funding program – the Muttart Bursary Program and the Leadership Bursary Program. Both bursary programs are open to registered charities working in the field of social services or early childhood education and care in Alberta or Saskatchewan. The aim of the bursary programs is to build a charity’s organizational capacity through staff and key volunteer professional development.

• Muttart Bursary Program
  Grants are usually awarded in amounts of less than $1,500 to cover the tuition or registration costs of courses, programs, conferences or other training opportunities. Courses or programs must be offered by a non-profit entity or a publicly funded post-secondary institution. 
• Muttart Leadership Program
  The aim of the Leadership Bursary program is to increase the capacity of senior staff, management staff, or persons serving in a senior staff capacity within these charities to contribute now, or in the near future, to leadership within or across organizations, or enhance leadership competence in key policy areas related to the charity or sub-sector’s work.

Please submit applications to the Foundation at least three weeks in advance of the course start date to provide sufficient time for a review of your request.

Microsoft Grant
Provides grants and discounted solutions to eligible nonprofits. Nonprofit discounts and grants are permitted for specific employees and volunteers.

• Grants – Granted licenses are only permitted for paid employees and unpaid executive staff if all organization eligibility is met. User amount limits do apply and vary by availability of country of usage. Additionally, organizations are expected to regularly remove unused granted licenses from their subscription. Adherence to policy guidance is encouraged and tenant may be subject to audit by Microsoft.
• Discounts – Discounted licenses are permitted for all staff, including volunteers and temporary staff of the organization. Eligible nonprofits may access discounted pricing on commercial cloud offers, and some on-premise offers. Discounts vary by product, and/or quantity
