Save the Date! Alberta Disability Summit 2025 – Indigenous Cultural Understanding

November is Indigenous Disability Awareness Month in Canada. To honour this, the inaugural Alberta Disability Summit will be held on November 27, 2025, at Grey Eagle Resort & Casino, Tsuut’ina Nation (Calgary).

This one-day gathering will bring together Indigenous leaders, families, persons with disabilities, governments, service providers, and community partners to advance disability inclusion and cultural understanding. Rooted in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), the Summit will create space to:

  • Elevate Indigenous perspectives on disability and reconciliation.
  • Strengthen collaboration across communities, organizations, and governments.

The program includes keynote presentations, discussions on reconciliation and ethical space, solution-focused group work, and a planning session to shape future summits and ongoing Community of Practice(s).

  • Disability service providers (FSCD, PDD) and Associations
