Sonja Polz brings a wealth of experience in human services and child welfare, serving as a seasoned Program Director at Accredited Supports to the Community, an Implementation Consultant with Triple P Canada Inc., and an Instructor at Bow Valley College. With over 25 years of experience in the field, she possesses a proven track record in program oversight, outcomes evaluation, community development, and government relations.
Her extensive professional background has provided her with a thorough understanding of the complexities and challenges inherent in this domain, including knowledge and experience with Indigenous child welfare issues. She is dedicated to advocating for the rights and well-being of Indigenous children and families, demonstrating a commitment that extends to deepening her understanding of Indigenous worldviews and integrating culturally sensitive and inclusive methodologies throughout her professional endeavours.
Sonja’s relationship with ALIGN goes back 17 years as an association member representative at both the Central and Calgary chapter meetings, participation on several sector working committees, and involvement with the GOA/ALIGN FSCD Provincial table. Since 2022, Sonja has served as co-chair of the Central Chapter and as a member of the ALIGN Board of Directors.
Sonja is deeply passionate about promoting the well-being of children, families, and strengthening communities. She is enthusiastic about joining ALIGN and looking forward to building relationships and contributing to the mission of improving the lives of vulnerable children and families across Alberta.
