“I saw that Align was looking for ideas to share for a COVID toolbox.
McMan Youth, Family and Community Services Assoc. provides Supervised Family Time (Supervised Visitation with families involved in Children’s Services that require supervision while with their children). We have a visitation area with a variety of toys and activities appropriate for families with children of varying ages. We provide 2 visits in the morning and 2 visits in the afternoon. One of our staff came up with the idea of a large bin of toys, books and activities for each family so the next family attending is not playing with the same toys. Each family has their own bin (labelled with their name), brought out at the beginning of their visit, and put away until it can be cleaned and provided for their next visit. This limits multiple families playing with the same objects. Then in between visits, the surfaces such as tables, washrooms and high touch points are all that is needed to be cleaned before the next visit. This is working well for our program.”
