Thanks to all who have already circulated and responded to our survey. But as a gentle reminder to those who haven’t yet, we would really appreciate your assistance in completing and sharing it. The deadline for completion is August 5th and we are about 2/3 of our way to our completion target.
As a bit of background to the survey, through it we hope to learn about what opportunities families with children are currently utilizing that can promote development of natural supports, and what they believe needs to happen to further these opportunities. A project summary is attached with further information.

We have been busy this spring and summer completing a lot of research tasks related to our overall objective of identifying policy opportunities to enhance natural supports for potentially vulnerable Albertan children 6-16 years of age. Some of these activities have included:
- Conducting 15 interviews with community champions representing 10 communities in the Calgary area.
- Completing an environmental scan of community perceptions and practices of natural supports with community social workers (CSW).
- Family and youth consultations with organizations in Edmonton and Calgary, talking with over 36 family and youth.
- Planning for a comprehensive evaluation of community newsletters and association webpages to identify opportunities for families and residents to connect.
Please check our website, www.connectionsfirst.ca, for project updates, current research and to sign up for our newsletter.
Thank you again for your support and have a great summer!
