COVID-19 Tool Box

Leah Schmidt, CYC, MAL Programs Manager, McMan Youth, Family & Community Services Association sent ALIGN this:

“I saw that Align was looking for ideas to share for a COVID toolbox. McMan Youth, Family and Community Services Assoc. provides Supervised Family Time (Supervised Visitation with families involved in Children’s Services that require supervision while with their children). We have a visitation area with a variety of toys and activities appropriate for families with children of varying ages.
We provide 2 visits in the morning and 2 visits in the afternoon. One of our staff came up with the idea of a large bin of toys, books and activities for each family so the next family attending is not playing with the same toys. Each family has their own bin (labelled with their name), brought out at the beginning of their visit, and put away until it can be cleaned and provided for their next visit. This limits multiple families playing with the same objects. Then in between visits, the surfaces such as tables, washrooms and high touch points are all that is needed to be cleaned before the next visit. This is working well for our program.”

Children’s Services

In an effort to ensure all writers and reviewers of SAFE HARs are aware of changes and updates being made by the Consortium for Children or the Ministry, we are broadening our target group for communication. Would you please disseminate this information to any Staff, Contractors, Agencies or DFNAs that are completing SAFE Home Studies so that they are aware of these changes.

“SAFE is pleased to announce that Questionnaire 1 and the Adult Child Questionnaire are now available in a format that may be filled out electronically. As before, they are available in English, Spanish, and French. Additionally, the SAFE Desk Guide is now available for download on the back of the SAFE website. This electronic version of the Desk Guide can also be printed. You may not share the electronic version of the Desk Guide. The Desk Guide is intended for use only by those certified in SAFE. The Desk Guide cannot be reproduced in any way – electronic, mechanical, photocopying, recording or otherwise. The electronic Desk Guide’s copyright date has been updated to 2020 to reflect the addition of “do not reproduce” on the bottom of each page. No
content has changed.”
